PANCAKES, PLEASE!

Fall is in the air and there’s nothing like savoring a scrumptious hot breakfast on a cool Fall morning. September 26th is National Pancake Day and that inspired us to create a list of some of the most mouthwatering places to grab a short stack on the First Coast. Below is a list of five places you can go to sample some truly flavorful flapjacks!

Canopy Road Café

The Canopy Road Cafe is a Florida born breakfast restaurant that serves up some seriously creative pancake dishes! They have three locations, two are located on the First Coast. You can savor their pancakes and other breakfast treats at their Jacksonville and St. John’s restaurants. 

Make sure to try a few of their wild pancake flavors such as their Fat Elvis, topped with peanut butter chips, banana and bacon, or their Turtle Cheesecake, which are chocolate pancakes piled high with chopped pecans, cream cheese icing and a rich caramel sauce. If you’re in the mood for something different we’d recommend the Sweet Potato Pancakes, they are made with a house made sweet potato batter and topped with a praline sauce. 

The Canopy Road Cafe  also offers creative flavor options for their french toast and waffle selections. If you’re in the mood for something unique, try the Cap’n Crunch French Toast, which is rolled in crunch berries cereal and topped with fresh fruit, or the Churro Waffles, which has all the delicious churro flavors of cinnamon sugar, vanilla and caramel. Metro Diner 

The Metro Diner has been a Jacksonville favorite for decades. They offer an extensive menu at multiple locations in the Bold City. 

This award winning local diner is a great place to go to enjoy delicious pancakes. It’s always a safe bet to order their classic pancakes. If you’re in the mood for something unique try their Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, which have decadent toppings like cream cheese icing, candied nuts and cinnamon butter. Beach Diner 

The Beach Diner has been an area favorite for over 20 years. The diner is the perfect place to stop in for a stack of fluffy pancakes. 

Order up a classic short stack, blueberry or chocolate chip pancakes at any of their five locations on the First Coast until 2:30 P.M. 

Also for you early birds, note that the diner has a Sunrise Special from 6 A.M. to 8 A.M. In addition to pancakes, the diner’s menu features a multitude of breakfast and lunch favorites. You can also enjoy a mimosa with your meal on a special occasion! Also, bring the kiddos with assurance that the restaurant has an excellent kids menu. The diner’s menu also offers seasonal specials to savor. 

Florida Cracker Kitchen

Florida natives and chefs opened the first Florida Cracker Kitchen in 2012. The restaurant now has several locations, two are in Jacksonville. In addition to southern staples like shrimp and grits, the restaurant serves a delectable selection of pancakes and french toast. Unique to the Florida Cracker Kitchen are pancake flavors such as their Panhandle Pecan Pancakes and Original French Toast. The menu also features classic pancake combinations like blueberry, cinnamon sugar and banana. Another famous menu item to try are their cinnamon rolls, which are baked fresh daily and big enough for sharing. The restaurant is also a wonderful place to have a long weekend brunch, where you can enjoy a Bloody Mary or Mimosa with your meal. You can check out their full menu here.

Jax Beach Brunch Haus

The final spot to savor a short stack is the Jax Beach Brunch Haus. The restaurant is locally owned, committed to the beaches community, and gives back to several local causes. They also serve some mouthwatering pancakes! Make sure to try one of their house made original syrup flavors such as Nutella, Lavender, and Local Honey. You can also add griddle additions like fresh fruit, chocolate and nuts. If you’re in the mood for something different, order the crepes with sweet ricotta and berry compote.
